Slim Chickens will open its third Memphis-area restaurant on July 26.
The new Slim Chickens is in Bartlett at 8477 U.S. 64 in the free-standing building that was formerly a Steak ‘nShake.
Slim Chickens is known for its fresh chicken tenders and wings cooked to order and served with house-made dipping sauces.
Brothers Cody and Scott Davis are the team that has brought this Southern-inspired chicken franchise to the Memphis area. In 2019, they opened a restaurant in Southaven. A second restaurant opened in Collierville in March. The Bartlett restaurant will be their third Memphis-area restaurant. The brothers are signed on to 17 total locations that they plan to open across Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga.
“Our development in this area is far from over,” Cody Davis said.
At close to 4,000 square feet, the new restaurant will be the chain’s largest restaurant in the region.

“We will have TVs like at our other restaurants, a nice size patio that’s a little larger than our new construction restaurants and a dining room that is 50 to 70% larger than most Slim Chickens,” Davis said. Slim Chickens is known for its large party-style tables in the center of the restaurant; this location will have two of those.
The restaurant also will have a two-lane drive-thru. “We have added a structure with covered canopies. We will be able to move people through the line quickly,” he said.
The Southaven restaurant in Silo Square is the largest volume restaurant in the chain. The Collierville location at 501 W. Poplar Ave. is the second-largest volume location.
The Arkansas-based restaurant serves an array of chicken meals including tenders, sandwiches, wraps and salads, along with 18 styles of dipping sauces, fried pickles, mac and cheese, stacked desserts in mason jars and more.
Slim Chickens opened in 2003 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with a focus on fresh, delicious food with a Southern flair in a fast-casual setting. The chicken chain has more than 120 locations in 19 U.S. states, as well as international locations in Kuwait and London.
The Bartlett restaurant will offer online ordering as well as delivery through third-party delivery services.
Another Slim Chickens will open later this fall in Jackson, Tennessee.
